High-J CO line emission from young stellar objects: from ISO to FIRST
we present the CO pure rotational spectrum at high J (Jup14) obtained with the Long Wavelength Spectrometer (LWS) on board of the ISO satellite towards molecular outflows exciting sources in nearby star formation regions. The physical conditions, derived using an LVG model for the line emission, indicate the presence of warm and dense gas, probably shock excited. The model fits show that often the bulk of this CO emission is expected in the spectral range that will be covered by FIRST, indicating the potentiality of this satellite to trace the warm component of gas emission in young stellar objects

Using GLM Flash Density, Flash Area, and Flash Energy to Diagnose Tropical Cyclone Structure and Intensification
Increased lightning in tropical cyclones (TCs) is typically associated with intensification, but significant lightning outbreaks are also observed in weakening storms. The total number of lightning flashes in a TC is not always a reliable indicator of TC intensity evolution. Issues with the range and detection efficiency of ground-based networks, particularly for intracloud lightning. Physical processes such as vertical wind shear can intensify asymmetric convection while also weakening the TC. The commissioning of the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) aboard GOES-16 and GOES-17 marked, for the first time, the presence of an operational lightning detector in geostationary orbit. In addition to flash density (the number of flashes per unit area per unit time), GLM also provides continuous observations of flash area and total optical energy

Non-universality of compact support probability distributions in random matrix theory
The two-point resolvent is calculated in the large-n limit for the generalized fixed and bounded trace ensembles. It is shown to disagree with that of the canonical Gaussian ensemble by a nonuniversal part that is given explicitly for all monomial potentials V(M)=M2p. Moreover, we prove that for the generalized fixed and bounded trace ensemble all k-point resolvents agree in the large-n limit, despite their nonuniversality
Finite element optimizations for efficient non-linear electrical tomography reconstruction
Electrical Tomography can produce accurate results only if the underlying 2D or 3D volume discretization is chosen suitably for the applied numerical algorithm. We give general indications where and how to optimize a finite element discretization of a volume under investigation to enable efficient computation of potential distributions and the reconstruction of materials. For this, we present an error estimator and material-gradient indicator as a driver for adaptive mesh refinement and show how finite element mesh properties affect the efficiency and accuracy of the solutions
